Join us
We are always looking for new singers and players!
I’d like to join, but I can’t read music.
Not a problem! Do you like to sing, and are you pretty good at holding a tune? Come and give us a try. Just sit with the section that most suits your voice; generally, Sopranos and Altos are female voices, with the men singing Tenor and Bass. Then by sitting next to more experienced members who know the music, you will soon pick it up, following along with the sheet music provided. It won’t take long to learn, but commitment is important.
We meet every other week during the term at 7.15 for a 7.30 start at Comrades’ Hall. We are a friendly group, too, so if you need extra help learning a part, it may be possible to get together with a member or two from your vocal section and get in some extra practice.
Do you like to dress in costume?
We usually wear Victorian-style costume for our more formal performances. You will receive plenty of advice and help to sort out a costume, if you need it. Some of us recently (Dec 2025) took place in the ‘Going The Rounds’ event in Stinsford (see ‘Our Recent history’) and being in costume, carrying lanterns around the lanes of Stinsford was like being in a living Christmas card! And of course, the music sounded wonderful, as several quires had joined forces.
How much does it cost to belong?
We keep expenses to a minimum, but do need to cover the cost of the hall hire. It amounts to a few pounds a term; please contact us for current rates.
After rehearsal…
We usually end up having social time in the White Lion Pub in Broadwindsor!
